Ask Olivia Clare a key to Australia’s Paralympic success in LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 and she’ll shine a bright spotlight on the people behind the scenes, the next generation of Para coaches.
In April 2025, Olivia relocated from Aotearoa New Zealand to join the Queensland Academy of Sport’s Gen32 ‘Project Para’ Coach Development Program, a national-first initiative designed to elevate Para sport coaching in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Games.
Alongside her new role with the QAS, Olivia has also commenced her PhD with the University of Queensland, investigating how to develop world-class Paralympic coaches.
There were 549 Medals on offer in Paris 2024, however Australia only competed in 40% of these Paralympic events – leaving a huge opportunity to be competitive.
The Gen32 Coaches program is an initiative of the QAS Para Unit and represents a long-term investment in building the scaffolding for future Paralympic success, one coach at a time.
