It’s been another massive week for QAS-supported athletes, with national team selections, podium performances and world-class results across rowing, triathlon, athletics, and diving.
Athletics – New PB for Lachie Kennedy: QAS-supported sprinter Lachie Kennedy made a statement as the second Australian ever to break the ten-second barrier, running a blistering 9.98 seconds in the 100m – a new personal best.
Diving – National Championships and World Trials: QAS supported divers delivered five medals at the National Championships. Cassiel Rousseau won double Gold in Men’s 3m Springboard and 10m Platform. Emily Francis won Silver in 1m Springboard. Maggie Grey won Silver in Platform. Piper Howard and Charli Brown won Silver in 3m Synchro.
Triathlon – World Triathlon Championship Series, Alghero: Matt Hauser continues to impress, finishing second in Alghero and maintaining his lead in the overall World Triathlon Championship Series standings. Luke Willian narrowly missed the podium, finishing a strong fourth.
Rowing – National Team Selections: Queensland’s rowing talent represented across junior, U23, and senior national squads. Astrid Thomas will compete in the Junior Women’s Single Scull. At senior level, Erik Horrie OAM will race in the PR1 Men’s Single Scull and Mitch Salisbury has been selected in the Men’s Pair.
