Results Wrap: QAS athletes break records and bring home medals

It was a busy week of international competitions with QAS supported cyclists helping usher in an exciting new era for Australia, QAS supported swimmers breaking records and dominating the World Cup podium, and rising stars in freestyle BMX and athletics proving their skills.

UCI World Track Cycling Championships, Ballerup, Denmark:

Molly McGill and Kristina Clonan (QAS graduate) cycled to bronze in the Women’s Team Sprint, setting a new National Record of 47.358 seconds. In the Men’s Team Sprint, Ryan Elliott narrowly missed gold to the Netherlands by 0.627 seconds.

World Aquatics Swimming World Cup, Shanghai:

Kaylee McKeown broke the Oceanian, Australian and World Aquatics World Cup record in the Women’s 50m Backstroke. Isaac Cooper set a new World Cup record in the Men’s 50m Backstroke. Milla Jansen, Lily Price, Edward Sommerville and Enoch Robb also won medals.

GPS Junior and Senior Track and Field Championships, Brisbane:

Rising sprint star Gout Gout won the Open Boys 200m in 20.87 seconds and the 100m in 10.36 seconds, breaking his own records. He also won the 400m in 47.75 seconds, setting a new open record.
