Three QAS-supported athletes have stood on the podium at international competitions during the week as they ramp up preparations for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
QAS-supported boxers Shannan Davey and Teremoana Teremoana both took home gold medals in a successful campaign at the Eindhoven Cup in the Netherlands.
Shannan Davey won both of his fights to claim the Men’s Elite 71 kilograms in only his second international tournament.
Teremoana Teremoana extended his winning streak by claiming the Men’s Elite 92+ kilograms. The 26-year-old celebrated by proudly performing a Pukapukan tila in the boxing ring in honour of his late grandfather’s heritage.
It’s the pair’s last international competition before they compete at the Olympic Games.
The QAS-supported athletes are currently in England for a training camp with Australia’s largest ever contingent of boxers selected for an Olympic Games, with 12 flying to Paris in July. Best of luck!
