Results Wrap: Gold Rush for QAS-supported athletes in Singapore

Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) supported athletes have made a serious statement at the World Championships in Singapore, producing a string of gold-medal performances, podium finishes and standout efforts across the pool, open water and diving tower.

Swimming Night 1: Relays and Records

Australia burst out of the blocks on night one of swimming, with QAS-supported athletes leading the charge in both freestyle relays. The women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team stormed to gold in 3:30.60, and the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay squad took gold in a new Championship Record time of 3:08.97.

In the individual 400m freestyle, Sam Short surged home for silver with a time of 3:42.37.

Open Water

Tom Raymond showed nerves of steel in his first world championships, placing 10th in the 5km and 5th in the Knockout Sprint.

Diving: Keeney wins gold on Springboard

QAS diver Maddie Keeney delivered a class performance in the women’s 1m springboard, walking away with gold and underlining her reputation as one of Australia’s brightest diving talents.
