Queensland’s finest took centre stage at the 2024 QAS Athlete Awards at Brisbane City Hall, celebrating the outstanding achievements of athletes, coaches, and sport programs from the Paris 2024 Games cycle.
The evening’s top honours: Emma McKeon AM OLY received the QAS Inspiring Extraordinary Sporting Success award as she officially retires. Curtis McGrath OAM PLY claimed the QAS Athlete Award voted by fellow athletes and was named QAS Paralympic Athlete of the Cycle. Arisa Trew OLY shone as the QAS Emerging Athlete.
Other award winners: Korey Boddington PLY won Magic Moment of the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Dean Boxall earned Coach of the Cycle. Kaylee McKeown OAM OLY was honoured as the Olympic Athlete of the Cycle.
Paris 2024 marked Queensland’s most successful campaigns, with 191 athletes and 40 QAS staff. Queensland athletes delivered 28 Olympic medals including 9 gold, and a record 28 Paralympic medals.
