Queenslanders make their mark across cycling, surfing, swimming and canoe sprint

Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) supported athletes have delivered a string of outstanding performances across cycling, surfing, swimming and canoe sprint, showcasing the depth of talent on the international stage.

At the Junior World Track Cycling Championships, Ella Liang and Olivia Wright combined for bronze in the Women’s Team Sprint, while Amelie Sanders proved her versatility with two podium finishes – bronze in the Women’s Omnium and another bronze in the Madison.

In the pool, rising star Ainsley Trotter stormed to gold in the 50m Backstroke at the World Junior Swimming Championships. Her winning time of 27.88 confirmed her status as one to watch as Australia builds towards future Olympic campaigns.

Adding to the medal haul, QAS supported athlete Tom Green powered to silver in the Men’s K1 1000 at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships. His performance reaffirmed his place among the sport’s elite.

Queensland surfers also made waves with three QAS supported athletes named in the 2025 Irukandjis team to represent Australia at the ISA World Surfing Championships. Morgan Cibilic, Callum Robson and Dane Henry will take on the world’s best.
