Queensland’s next generation of swimming talent are on track for success, diving into a high-performance environment at the QAS Flippers Intervention Day. Organised in collaboration with Swimming Queensland, the event offered National and Age Championship-level athletes from the Queensland Flippers program a rare glimpse behind the scenes of QAS’s world-class support network.
The day’s itinerary featured specialist sessions honing in on the athletes’ starts, turns and stroke techniques — all designed to refine movement patterns and highlight the minute adjustments that can elevate an athlete’s performance.
QAS Senior Biomechanist Koji Honda said: “This program is about fine-tuning the small details that make a big difference in performance. The athletes get real-time feedback and insights they can take directly back to training.”
Participants worked with experts in biomechanics, physiology, and coaching, gaining insights pivotal to an athlete’s journey to the podium. One participant praised the immersive experience: “Learning from the best and getting expert feedback has given me so much confidence in my training.”
