Competition in the Paris 2024 Olympics is officially underway with a record 140 Queenslanders wearing green and gold as part of the 460-strong Australian Olympic Team.
The Matildas kicked off their Olympic campaign with a 3-0 loss to Germany. QAS-supported athlete Sharn Freier made her debut with the Matildas in the 59th minute.
For the first time, the Australian Men’s Rugby Sevens team progressed to an Olympic semi-final, beating USA 18-0. Captain Nick Malouf and Hayden Sargeant featured. Earlier, Australia defeated Samoa 21-14, Kenya 21-7 and Argentina 22-14.
