Olympic silver medallist and QAS-supported diver Maddison Keeney has taken her trademark precision from the pool to the pit, balancing elite training with her role as a technical officer at BHP.
The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is excited to welcome BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) as the newest partner to its Dream Twice athlete employment program, aimed at helping more athletes gain meaningful workplace experience while competing or transitioning out of sport.
“Diving will always be part of me, but working at BHP has helped me realise I can have more than one identity,” Keeney said. “I work on mine planning — looking at where to drill, how deep, and ensuring our designs are efficient and safe.”
QAS Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Manager said: “This partnership reflects QAS’s commitment to developing athletes as people. It gives them the chance to build transferable strengths into long-term careers.”
BHP Mitsubishi Alliance Asset President, Adam Lancey, said: “Athletes like Maddison – with their discipline, drive and resilience – bring the kind of thinking and energy that make them great members of our diverse teams.
