As I approach the end of my first week as CEO, I have been overwhelmed by the outreach and support, as well as the excitement shown across our team, the industry, and the wider high-performance community around the challenges and opportunities ahead. It is both humbling and energising to feel that momentum, and I understand and accept the responsibility that comes with this role.
What lies ahead is the most ambitious mission in the history of the QAS – striving for more medals across more sports. It will not be easy, nor is it a given, but I believe deeply in the strength of our QAS supported athletes, our partnerships with sports and in our QAS Team. This collective commitment, expertise and passion is what gives us the platform to succeed.
We make a commitment to high performance both in and out of the sporting arena and speaking at our QAS Huddle earlier this week, the energy and ideas shared again demonstrated why our people are our superpower and the foundation of everything we do.
I am grateful for the support of the Queensland Government, which enables us to seize the incredible opportunities on this green and gold runway. I am also grateful for the support of our leadership team and guidance of our Board and Chair, David Lyons, as we pursue our vision of inspiring extraordinary sporting success.
Thank you for your partnership and support. Together we can shape the next chapter of high performance sport for Queensland, and I am committed to leading that work with you.
Regards
Troy Ayres
