2025 Year in Review: Building momentum towards Brisbane 2032

As we approach the end of 2025, the momentum across the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) has been clear. It has been a year of significant change, strong collaboration and steady progress towards our shared ambitions.

In 2025, the QAS took an important step forward, strengthening our governance, independence and long-term stability. While our structure has evolved, our purpose remains unchanged, to support world class athletes to succeed in sport and in life.

Throughout the year, QAS supported athletes delivered strong performances across key benchmark events in Australia and on the world stage. These outcomes reflect the collective effort of athletes, coaches, performance staff, sports and partners across the system.

Partnerships continued to drive progress across every part of the organisation. In partnership with AusCycling, we established the National Action and Acceleration Centre of Excellence in Queensland, strengthening national leadership and athlete pathways.

With the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in the rear view mirror, the team turned attention to the next four-year cycle. Our Performance Plans are now in place with each Sport, charting the pathway to LA2028 with clear priorities and shared expectations.

QAS has also made important investments in our technology and data infrastructure. Through partnerships with Catapult Sports, we are building a stronger evidence base to drive smarter decisions and better outcomes for athletes.

And with LA2028 firmly in our sights, we continued to leverage our elite system to support talented young Queenslanders through our Talent Support Program, pathway programs and the YouFor2032 initiative.

The QAS remains committed to building world-class, world-leading performance environments that give Queensland athletes the very best chance to succeed, on and off the field.

Thank you to our athletes, coaches, performance staff, partners and the broader sport community for your continued support and commitment in 2025. We look forward to building on this momentum in 2026.
