QAS-supported gymnast Ruby Pass has celebrated Commonwealth Games gold on debut after helping Australia end a 16-year wait for the women's artistic gymnastics team title in Glasgow.
The 19-year-old Queenslander played her part in Australia’s commanding performance as the team claimed gold with 158.400 points, finishing ahead of Canada and defending champions England.
Making her Commonwealth Games debut, Pass joined experienced teammates Georgia Godwin, Kate McDonald, Emily Whitehead and Breanna Scott as Australia delivered consistent performances across all four apparatus to secure the nation’s first women’s team gold since Delhi 2010.
The result adds to a memorable opening weekend for Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS)-supported athletes in Glasgow and follows the Australian men’s breakthrough bronze medal on the opening day of competition.
Pass, who represented Australia at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, now turns her attention to the individual all-around and apparatus competitions later in the week as she looks to add to her maiden Commonwealth Games medal.
