In December, the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) partnered with Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) to bolster athlete safeguarding. QAS became the first State Institute of Sport to apply to SIA’s Office of Sport Safeguarding to have its National Integrity Framework recognised.
The framework establishes clear standards and processes for protecting athletes from misconduct, abuse and integrity breaches.
QAS General Manager Troy Ayres said: “The safety and wellbeing of our athletes is our absolute priority. Partnering with Sport Integrity Australia and being the first State Institute to have our framework recognised demonstrates our commitment to athlete protection.”
The QAS will continue to work with Sport Integrity Australia to strengthen safeguarding practices across Queensland sport.
